Ministers of Education of three countries and experts from OECD and Boston College meet to discuss PISA test results

On February 14-15, Ministry of Education and Research will host an international conference in Nordic Hotel Forum in Tallinn to be opened by Prime Minister Jüri Ratas. The list of participants includes Ministers of Education from three countries and educational changes experts across the globe.

On February 14-15, Ministry of Education and Research will host an international conference in Nordic Hotel Forum in Tallinn to be opened by Prime Minister Jüri Ratas. The list of participants includes Ministers of Education from three countries and educational changes experts across the globe.

Andreas Schleicher, the Director for Education and Skills at the OECD will talk about the impact of PISA tests on policy making. Opinions on PISA tests will be provided by Ministers responsible for education: Anna Ekström from Sweden, Jurgita Petrauskiene from Lithuania, and Mailis Reps from Estonia. Professor Dennis Shirley from Boston College (USA) will present an overview of the latest developments in the change approach to learning.

The second block of the conference features a discussion between education experts from countries around the Baltic Sea concerning the impact of PISA test results on the development of national education systems, and further alternatives for interpreting the test results.

The third block on February 15 includes visits to schools and educational institutions to learn about basic education that is top of the notch in Europe. Field trips will be made to the Tallinn School No. 21, the Tallinn Secondary School of Science, the Old Town Educational College, and the Estonian Museum of Natural History.
