Management

The Ministry of Education and Research is headed by the Secretary General and three Deputy Secretary Generals.

Secretary General

In addition to the overall management of the Ministry’s affairs, the Secretary General is responsible for directing the work of deputy secretary generals and departments of the Ministry as well as co-ordinating the work of state institutions and government bodies under the Ministry’s sphere of administration. The departments of language policy, strategical planning and communications, human resources and legal affairs are directly subordinate to the Secretary-General.

Liina Põld

Deputy Secretary General (General Education and Youth Affairs)

The Deputy Secretary General is responsible for fields of general education and youth affairs and is directly in charge of the areas of general education and youth and talent policy.

The tasks of the Deputy Secretary General are described in the Statutes of the Ministry of Education and Research.

Renno Veinthal

Deputy Secretary General (Higher Education, Research and Adult Education)

The Deputy Secretary General is responsible for fields of research, vocational, secondary and adult education and is directly in charge of the departments of higher education, vocational education and training policy and lifelong learning. 

The tasks of the Deputy Secretary General are described in the Statutes of the Ministry of Education and Research.

Henry Kattago

Deputy Secretary General (Planning and Administrative Matters)

The Deputy Secretary General is responsible for fields of analysis, e-services, finances and state assets and is directly in charge of the departments of technology management, analysis, e-services, financing and state assets.

The tasks of the Deputy Secretary General are described in the Statutes of the Ministry of Education and Research.
